Ayurveda is a complete way of life. It is not only about treating sickness — it is about preventing disease and enhancing health, longevity and vitality. The goal of Ayurveda is to achieve harmony and balance. This is attained without drugs or invasive treatments. A balanced diet, herbal remedies, gentle exercise and physical therapies are the main methods used. According to Ayurveda, there are three subtle energies (doshas) at work that make us look and behave the way we do. These energies are called:
Ayurveda describes a major causative factor in disease and premature aging as the gradual accumulation of waste and toxins (ama) causing imbalance in our doshas, thus leading to dis-ease. To balance ourselves (body and mind), a system of Rasayana (rejuvenating) and Pancha Karma (purification) treatments are used along with herbs, special individual diets, Chiropractic, Yoga and meditation. |
